Following on from the UK Film Council’s research report (June 2008) on Low and Micro-Budget film production in the UK and recent discussion in various industry publications around its merits; in terms of skills development vs. issues around deferred pay and actually finding an outlet for the film to be seen. Animation East asked Emily Corcoran (Cork Films) to come along and discuss her thoughts around micro budget filmmaking. A Career in Drawn Animation with Nicolette Van Gendt
Thursday 23rd April 2009; 11am-1pm; Norwich University College of the Arts
Ex Norwich University College of the Arts Graduate Nicolette Van Gendt has worked in film, games, illustration, character design and traditional animation. Nicolette has an exceptional drawing ability and has been working very successfully in the traditional animation industry for about two decades mainly as a key animator, but also as a storyboard, layout, background and not to forget as a character designer on several productions. Nicolette has worked alongside producers and directors such as Dave Unwin, John Coates, Geoff Dunbar, Piet Kroon, Joanna Quinn and Paul McCartney. Nicolette will be talking about how she got into the animation industry, her industry experiences, career path, what inspires her and giving us the low-down on some helpful tips in the trade.
