Games Designer Required
Real Projects is an e-learning company based in Norwich, creating e-learning solutions for clients across the UK including educational games, learning modules, animations, simulations and online courses.
As part of the College’s internship scheme, Real Projects is offering a recent graduate (2007-2009) to work as part of their project team for a period of three months. You will be involved in a number of research projects and you will also play a part in developing new solutions for their clients.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in games design, e-learning and learning technology. Please note that this is not a pure programming or graphic design role.
Work Scope
As a forward thinking and innovative company they are always looking for new ways to allow learning to take place. During the placement they have a number of projects that the successful candidate will work on, these include:
• Creation of e-learning content and games using the i-phone developer kit
• Creation of e-learning content on a blackberry
• Creation of learning objects using Thinking Worlds
• Development of learning games using Flash
Real Projects are already involved in the creation of a number of game based learning projects and you will be expected to play a role in their development. You will be given the opportunity to design games, provide ideas and also bring new ideas and concepts to projects.
Required skills and expertise
• Effective communicator – you will be expected to present your ideas to the team
• You will be able to interpret interactive requirements and prepare design documents
• You will have a detailed understanding of all areas of the game industry including online, handheld and different genres and age groups
• Developing design briefs by gathering information and data to clarify design issues
• Multi-tasking: working on more than one design brief at a time
• Produce accurate and high quality work
• You will be able to contribute ideas and design artwork to the overall brief
• Keeping abreast of developments in e-learning and games design, particularly use outside of traditional areas
• Working well in a team, with printers, copywriters, photographers, other designers, project managers, website designers and marketing specialists
• Working to deadlines
• You will be able to work independently

Closing date for applications is 5.00pm on Friday 18th September 2009. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview which will be held on Monday 28th September 2009. The internship will commence on Monday 5th October and end on Wednesday 23rd September 2009.
