DIGITAL VIDEO TECHNICIAN – 2 positions

1. 18.5 hrs per week (temporary absence cover)
2. Evening technician (Monday to Thursday 5.00pm to 7.30pm during 2008-09 undergraduate terms), hourly paid.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to assist the Digital Video Workshop Manager in the operation of the College’s digital video resources, delivering effective technical skills instruction and supporting staff and students in the use of a variety of digital video and related applications, including Final Cut Studio.

Reporting to the Digital Video Workshop Manager, you will have proven technical and instructional skills developed through working in industry and/or education contexts. Knowledgeable about current film and video practices, you will provide support for students studying a range of digital video production methods and technologies.

You will be part of the team ensuring that all workshop resources, including workstations and cameras, are configured to meet student and staff requirements and working with the Workshop Manager and academic colleagues to provide a highly effective service to support workshop users. An excellent communicator with good organisational skills, you will enjoy working within an academic environment and helping students to meet their creative potential.

Digital 3D Technician - Evenings
Actual Salary range £17,288 – £22,992 per annum, depending on skills/experience

Evening technician (Monday to Thursday 5.00pm to 7.30pm during 2008-09 undergraduate terms), hourly paid.

This is a temporary opportunity to join a small team supporting students in the Digital 3D Workshop, providing cover for a member of staff who is being redeployed.
You’ll be providing technical instruction and support to staff and students using a range of digital applications, including 3D. You’ll need a strong knowledge of Digital 3D modelling and rigging, proven experience with Alias Maya and preferably some knowledge of Unreal Tournament or Doom III mapping. Working directly with students who may have no prior 3D experience, you must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills.

You’ll be able to demonstrate proven experience in the relevant field and have the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.

AURORA Festival Assistant

Fix term contract - 29th September 2008 until 5th December 2008.

£6.48per hour, 37 hours per week.

Norwich University College of the Arts is a successful, specialist Higher Education Institution offering a range of courses in creative arts at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

We are seeking a Festival Assistant to help us produce the next edition of AURORA, a five-day festival based in Norwich which focuses on the manipulated moving image.

This position is a key role in a small team and is responsible for a wide range of jobs essential to the delivery of the festival; from co-ordinating film transport to liaising with festival guests and selected filmmakers; dealing with print and online publicity materials; assisting in the setup of installation work; and event co-ordination at the festival itself.

Ideally, candidates should have some experience of festival or gallery work. The post necessitates a degree of flexibility regarding working hours and a certain amount of evening and weekend work is inevitable, especially over the period of the festival itself.

PRINT MAKING
The Printmaking technician will support the College’s well-equipped Printmaking Workshops. You’ll have proven experience of etching, relief, silkscreen and litho, as well as Apple Mac software used for artwork production.

DIGITAL VIDEO TECHNICIAN
You will be knowledgeable about current film and video practices and provide support for students studying a range of digital video production methods and technologies, using a variety of digital video and related applications, including Final Cut Studio.

DIGITAL 3D TECHNICIAN
You will be providing technical instruction and support to staff and students using a range of digital applications, including 3D. You will need a strong knowledge of Digital 3D modelling and rigging, proven experience with Alias Maya and preferably some knowledge of games engines.

We are looking for good communicators with proven professional experience, who are enthusiastic and self-motivated to work in these busy creative environments. You must be able to demonstrate an awareness of relevant contemporary subject practice.

There's quite a few websites now who offer a fake college degree that comes from technical schools. Pretty sad people try and use them to get jobs when all the other kids are spending time to learn about something they love.
