Creative East Awards 2008

Entries to the second Creative East Awards are now open to both creative companies and individuals across the Eastern region and further afield.  Celebrating a wealth of talent across 6 counties, the prime purpose of the awards is to show the country that the Eastern region is a growing, major creative hub and to show potential clients in both the public and private sectors the high standard of creative work available.  Last year over 200 businesses, individuals, organisations and budding stars in the creative industries from Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridge, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Essex competed in 15 categories.

The 2008 Awards promise to build on the success of last year's event.  This year three new categories have been introduced including Best Computer Game, recognising the growing number of talented games programmers and designers in the area.  The evening will be held at the newly refurbished Theatre Royal in Norwich on Thursday 20th March with Clive Anderson returning to compere.

How to Enter:

The criteria and rules to entry for all awards categories can be found at www.creativeeast.co.uk along with an electronic entry form to register; closing date for entries to be received is by 11th January 2008.

Best Animation Award 2007

Best Animation will again be one of the categories returning this year, following Jon Dunleavy’s win last year with his Screen East funded short The Technical Hitch.  Jon said "I found the awards ceremony a good chance to meet some of the regions creative artists."  As a Norfolk based artist Jon Dunleavy has written, directed and produced two short animated films, The Technical Hitch and Mummy and Baddy. The Technical Hitch

Both films have been collaborations with small teams of local animators and sound designers, and were produced with the support of Screen East and UK Film Council, funded through their Digital Shorts scheme.  The Technical Hitch was a collaboration with poet Luke Wright and sound designer Tom Simmons and is narrated by Robert Lindsay. The film showcased in many festivals around the world, culminating in the Best Animation award at Creative East Awards 2007.  New film Mummy and Baddy is a collaboration with director Keith Wilson-Singer and stars Hollywood actor Jason Isaacs as the titular character Baddy, a diabolical thirty-nine year old super villain who still lives at home with his mother.

Jon is currently attached to London based International Animation production company Tandem Films.
